Na Slovensku s\u00fa textiln\u00e9 fragmenty \u010dasto zachovan\u00e9 v zna\u010dne po\u0161kodenej podobe, neraz iba vo forme mineralizovan\u00fdch zvy\u0161kov na kovov\u00fdch artefaktoch v hroboch. Z tohto d\u00f4vodu s\u00fa tieto vz\u00e1cne n\u00e1lezy \u010dasto prehliadan\u00e9 alebo nedostato\u010dne analyzovan\u00e9. Projekt PERTEX si kladie za cie\u013e z\u00e1sadne prehodnoti\u0165 existuj\u00face textiln\u00e9 n\u00e1lezy prostredn\u00edctvom interdisciplin\u00e1rneho a technologicky pokro\u010dil\u00e9ho pr\u00edstupu. V r\u00e1mci projektu bud\u00fa aplikovan\u00e9 najmodernej\u0161ie analytick\u00e9 met\u00f3dy, vr\u00e1tane mikroskopick\u00fdch techn\u00edk (napr. rastrov\u00e1 elektr\u00f3nov\u00e1 mikroskopia), pr\u00edrodovedn\u00fdch anal\u00fdz (C14 datovanie, metalografia, izotopov\u00e9 \u0161t\u00fadie) a komplexn\u00fdch technologick\u00fdch \u0161t\u00fadi\u00ed textilnej v\u00fdroby. Abstract:<\/p>\n

Textiles represent a key cultural element of societies from prehistory to the present, yet they rarely survive in archaeological contexts. In Slovakia, textile fragments are often preserved in a highly degraded state, frequently appearing as mineralized residues on metal artifacts in graves. As a result, these valuable finds are often overlooked or insufficiently analysed. The PERTEX project aims to fundamentally reassess existing textile finds through an interdisciplinary and technologically advanced approach. The project will employ state-of-the-art analytical methods, including microscopic techniques (e.g., scanning electron microscopy), scientific analyses (C14 dating, metallography, isotope studies), and comprehensive technological studies of textile production. The research will be further enriched by ethnographic, archaeobotanical, and archaeozoological data, enabling a holistic understanding of textile production from the Bronze Age to the Migration Period (2nd millennium BCE \u2013 6th century CE). Beyond textile fragments themselves, the project will also focus on the analysis of tools used in textile production (e.g., spindle whorls, loom weights) and textile processing (e.g., combs, needles). Comparing Slovak finds with textile-related artifacts from other parts of Central Europe will allow for the reconstruction of prehistoric manufacturing techniques, the identification of raw materials, and a deeper understanding of the economic, social, and cultural aspects of textile production. An important aspect of the project will also be the analysis of grave finds associated with clothing, such as jewellery (fibulae, dress fasteners, belt fittings), which provide valuable insights into the use and visual representation of textiles in prehistoric societies. The results of the PERTEX project will offer a fresh perspective on the development of textile production and its broader significance within European archaeology.<\/p>\n

Abstract: <\/strong>The basic idea of the project is to provide a balanced account of the contribution of domestic tradition, external contacts and movements to the formation of social elites and their manifestations during the Roman period. The geographical framework for the study of Germanic elites is defined by Central Europe, i.e. the territory of the Polabian Germanics (Suebi), i.e. south-western Slovakia, Bohemia and Moravia. The basic starting point of the project is the numerous source material with high narrative value, collected as a result of intensive field archaeological research in the area of interest.<\/p>\n

Natural resources and their availability have always been being a key presumption of existence for human society. Availability of diverse resources, ability to exploit them or control access to them preconditioned or even determined the selection of sites for settling, level of development and life standard of individual communities. Studying the relation of human societies to natural resources and their background is an important part of archaeological investigation and its sub-discipline, the so-called economic archaeology. Implementation of archaeometric methods guarantees interdisciplinary approach and higher objectivity of obtained results. In the project, the relation of the human societies to the natural resources will be studied, as well as the impact of this relation to the way of life in the Bronze and Iron Ages in the territory of contemporary Slovakia. It will be based on processing and evaluation of materials from settlement sites with various functions and various exploited natural resources: organic (plant and animal) as well as anorganic ones (in the project, with special focus on clay, copper\/bronze and iron). Employment of archaeometric methods by investigating the individual types of sources (metal and pottery artifacts, archaeobotanical and archaeozoological material) and interdisciplinary approach to them will ensure the objectivity of obtained results. At selected sites with documented specialized metallurgic production, interdisciplinary field research connected with the investigation of their background will be carried out. The expected outcomes include a reconstruction of strategies in detection and exploitation of natural resources and testing and\/or defining new methodologies for investigation of prehistoric and protohistoric metallurgic centres in mountainous environment.<\/p>\n

Projekt je zameran\u00fd na komplexn\u00e9 vyhodnotenie obsidi\u00e1novej \u0161tiepanej industrie dolo\u017eenej v n\u00e1lezov\u00fdch s\u00faboroch z obdobia paleolitu a\u017e star\u0161ej doby bronzovej z \u00fazemia Slovenska, vr\u00e1tane zdrojov obsidi\u00e1nu, ktor\u00e9ho prim\u00e1rny v\u00fdskyt je situovan\u00fd v juhov\u00fdchodnej \u010dasti krajiny. Rie\u0161en\u00e9 ot\u00e1zky \u00fazko s\u00favisia s v\u00fdskumom obsidi\u00e1nu \u2013 ide o zachytenie procesov, ak\u00fdmi s\u00fa dovozu danej suroviny na s\u00eddlisko, jej transform\u00e1ciu a determinovanie artefaktu, ktor\u00fd bol cie\u013eom jej v\u00fdroby. Tvoria z\u00e1klad pre celkov\u00e9 teoretick\u00e9 vyhodnotenie sledovanej problematiky.<\/p>\n

The issue of the chipped industrie of the Stone Age was dealt with in Slovakia, especially for the Neolithic period and eneolite, rather marginally. Only some larger finding files have been evaluated. It is only in recent years that research into this issue has been more intensively developed. For the study of split industry, modern analyses are applied which can affect the stages of production processes from the acquisition of raw material from primary or secondary sources, through their initial processing, distribution to final use. The evaluation of the questions set is based on a comprehensive analysis of obsidian artifacts. The project is aimed at a comprehensive evaluation of obsidian split industry, as well as the findings from the Paleolithion period to the earlier Bronze Age from the territory of Slovakia, including the sources of obsidian, the primary occurrence of which is situated in the south-eastern part of the country. The issues addressed are closely related to obsidian research \u2013 it is about capturing processes such as importing a given raw material into a housing estate, transforming it and determining the artifact that was the target of its production. They form the basis for an overall theoretical evaluation of the observed issue.<\/p>\n

The objective of the project is monitoring of adaptation strategies of prehistoric populations in selected regions of West, Central and East Slovakia from the old Neolithic to the young\/late Bronze Age, their comparison and scientific synthesis of the obtained information. The project focuses on the assessment of the settlement structure and its metamorphoses. The selected areas should show natural and social diversity which is, according to previous opinions, often expressed in dichotomy of cultural development of the Tisza river basin and the Podunajsk\u00e1 n\u00ed\u017eina lowland. Ruptures should be accompanied by cultural changes in individual regions (extinction and origin of archaeological cultures and, besides others, beginnings of various historical epochs). In the project, these ideas will be confronted with the result of the analysis of the collected data assessed in the regional as well as supra-regional context; their validity will thus be verified on the given \u201csample\u201d and conclusions regarding their similarity or difference in social structures within studied populations and their adaptation strategies will be postulated. Processing of the find fund from selected sites in the studied territory and eras will be a complementary task; this task follows from the necessity to specify our knowledge of material cultures of the given societies and will include the most complex processing of find funds from investigations in selected sites from the studied eras as well as the mobiliary obtained by terrain prospecting during the projectworks using modern analytical methods on interdisciplinary basis (anthropology, archaeobotany, 14C analyses.<\/p>\n

Matthias Bel in his work Notitia Hungariae novae historico-geographica (hereinafter referred to as the “Notitia”) offered a contemporary perspective of the state, significance, reception and specific facts concerning Hungarian counties within the Habsburg Monarchy. Humanities and social sciences researchers (e.g. historians\/historical geographers, philologists) in Slovakia have studied various aspects of the life and work of this representative of the Enlightement. The core of the research was represented by Bel’s publishing activities, his religious life and indepth probes into author’s selected works. During the past decade a bilingual (Latin-Slovak) version of the Liptov, Orava, Turiec and Tren\u010d\u00edn County were published. However, based on the scholarly literature research, it is evident that the Notitia of a particular Slovak county (or its selected parts) has not been sufficiently analyzed and scientifically interpreted from the philological, historical or historical-geographical and ethnological point of view. Nevertheless the results of analysis and interpretation of Bel’s work within the scope of these disciplines can be effectively applied for instance in the context of revitalization of regional identities on the example of the landscape and particular ethno-cultural phenomena of selected Slovak regions. The essence as well as the main objective of the project is a Slovak translation of the Latin original of the Nitra County Notitia (lat. COMITATUS NITRIENSIS) and its historical-geographical, philological and ethnographic analysis. By employing specific methods we will identify and reconstruct selected regional identities of the examined area \u2013 e.g. cultural landscape and its structure, character of settlement, a way of life or the specifics of socio-professional classification of the county population in the first half of the 18th century.
