Andrea Slan\u00e1, PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Year of excavation:<\/strong>&nbsp;2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method of excavation:&nbsp;systematic,\nfor scientific and documentation purposes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type of locality:<\/strong>&nbsp;medieval stronghold<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dating:<\/strong>&nbsp;Late\nMedieval Period (13<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 14<sup>th<\/sup> centuries)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current systematic archaeological\nexcavations of the locality Hradisko in Divinka is concluded by the Institute\nof Archaeology of SAS and Museum of Pova\u017eie region in \u017dilina. In the year 2018\nwas concluded first season and the projects counts on second season in the year\n2019. Excavations and their analysis is made under the grant APVV-15-0330.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The site is known in literature, it was\ndescribed for the first time by A. Petrovsk\u00fd-\u0160ichman in the year 194, who\nconsidered it to be a&nbsp;Early Medieval guard post without permanent\nsettlement, protecting the entry road to the site Ve\u013ek\u00fd vrch. J. Morav\u010d\u00edk,\ntogether with J. Pavel\u010d\u00edk, P. Kou\u0159il and O. \u0160edo made here small excavations in\nthe year 1982, with few unspecified ditches on the peak and in front of the\nwall. Found ceramic shards were dated to the 12<sup>th <\/sup>\u2013 13<sup>th<\/sup>\ncenturies. Site was also included in the work of J. Malec and R. Husz\u00e1r\nconcerning the small fortified strongholds in the north-eastern Slovakia in the\nyear 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The locality is a&nbsp;cone shaped peak of\na&nbsp;hill with visible rampart wall on one side of it\u00b4s base. It is situated\nin the forest terrain and it is crossed by the cadaster border between villages\nDivina and Divinka. In the year 2018, the excavations were made on two places.\nOne ditch cut the rampart wall, verifying its anthropogenous origin. Samples\nfrom burned remains of the internal structure of the wall were send for\nradiocarbon dating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second ditch crossed whole peak area of the\nsite with intention to closely examine the configuration of natural and manmade\nlayers. We found out, that the highest part of the cone peak is mostly made of\nbedrock, with only 20 \u2013 30 cm thin layer of earth on it. The area where we theoretically\nexpect the main wooden tower was totally damaged by the building of modern\ntriangulation tower in the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century and didn\u00b4t contain any\narchaeological material. The peak was divided from the rest of the site by a\npalisade ditch cut in the bedrock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the peak was a prolonged platform,\ncontaining mostly pottery shards, dated to the 13<sup>th<\/sup> century and a\nfew objects. On its outside edge was one more wall, destroyed by fire.\nExcavations on this place were paused until the next season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the main archaeological excavations,\nsurvey using the metal detectors was also concluded on the locality. Hand in\nhand with cleaning the site from the recent refuse were found mostly iron\narrowheads dated to the 13<sup>th<\/sup> or beginning of the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\ncentury and one medieval belt clasp. Locality was geodetically measured and chosen\nparts were surveyed by geophysical methods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research team:&nbsp;Mgr.
